(BLOG POST)
Earlier today, the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) hosted a webinar with attorney Lois Wasoff on the latest court rulings in the Google Books Case. On October 16, 2015, a U.S. federal appeals court ruled in favor of Google and against the Authors Guild in a copyright infringement case that began 10 years ago over Google’s controversial book scanning project. This opinion will have enormous impact, for years to come, on fair use analyses and jurisprudence.
You can view the webinar for free online here: http://bit.ly/1QvChCD
You will learn:
- How the court’s decision affects authors, publishers and their readers.
- What makes the Google Books project a “fair use.”
- Why the Authors Guild may decide to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
