“The customer has stepped out of the bookstore and into the foyer of the publishing houses, they are knocking on the doors of authors, and asking to be addressed as individuals.”–from presentation “The Digital Marketing Wave: Handselling in a Networked World”
Take a look at this Tools of Change program from Bob Carlton of LibreDigital–although sometimes it’s hard to follow slides without audio, this one incorporates nuggets of info such as stats on whether book purchases are impulse or planned and how buyers learn about books in the first place. More programs have been uploaded to the TOC website since yesterday and you can check them out here. In addition, PW Daily today (Feb.24) has coverage of the Conference thus far.
I recommend that you revisit the Tools of Change website periodically over the next few weeks to see if additional video and presentation material from the conference has been added. And don’t miss The Write Thought blog today which has additional updated TOC info from IBPA board member Steve Mettee who is onsite. It’s the next best thing to being there!
